Influenced by the modern jazz trio sounds of Brad Melhdau and EST (Esbjorn Svensson Trio), The MNO trio weaves together the harmonic brilliance of an acoustic jazz ensemble and the sonic textures of an electronic pop band. The result is a sound that is altogether different, yet surprisingly familiar. The trio is led by "Six Degree's Record's (San Francisco) recording artist, and 2004 California music awards recipient for best jazz band, Michael Emenau. Michael, a jazz musician to the core, whose influences range from Balinese Gamelan music, to ambient drum & bass, plays the vibraphone, keyboards and laptop computer. He is complimented by the New York trained duo of Greg Desgouttes on drums/percussion and Yves Bitar on electric and acoustic bass. Together they have created a uniquely beautiful sound; exploratory yet always accessible, and above all else, swinging. The infusion of vibraphone and electronics into the traditional jazz trio setting helps to create a contemporary, elegant mood which is further complimented by the effortless grooves of Greg and Yves. The trio's repertoire contains many original compositions as well as popular tunes by Bjork, Radiohead, The Beatles, and Serge Gainsbourg.
Influence par des groupes modernes tels que E.S.T. ou Brad Melhdau, The MNO Trio combine les brillantes harmonies du jazz acoustique et les textures sonores de l'electro pop. Le resultat est a la fois surprenant et familier. Le leader du trio est Michael Emenau, signe sur "Six Degrees", et qui a obtenu en 2004 le prix du Meilleur Groupe de Jazz de Californie. Ses influences vont de la musique gamelan de Bali a la drum & bass, l'ambient. Il joue des vibraphones , claviers et ordinateur(laptop). Il est epaule par le duo, forme a New York, que represente le batteur/percussioniste Greg Desgouttes et le bassiste/contrebassiste Yves Bitar.
Le melange du vibraphone et d'elements electroniques dans un trio de jazz apporte un swing et une texture tres contemporaine, elegante et en phase avec le groove de Greg et Yves.
Le repertoire du trio comprend aussi bien des compositions originales que des morceaux populaires de Bjork, Radiohead, The Beatles ou encore Serge Gainsbourg.
